Novotel Resort

Day One

You'll be greeted by your friendly host, John Baldwin in a modern Mercedes and enjoy a picturesque drive to McLaren Vale, famous for its Chenin Blanc, Grenache, Shiraz and Italian varietals.  John will tailor the day's visits to your particular wine tastes and preferences.  The wineries may include Coriole, d'Arenberg, Kay Bros, Primo Estate or Samuel Gorge Vineyards among others.   Visits may also include olive oil, olives, local cheeses and wood aged vinegar tastings.  A 2-course gourmet lunch with wine is enjoyed at the Victory Hotel restaurant with its beautiful ocean views.  Set off to The Barossa via the beautiful Adelaide Hills and stop for a cheese platter and wine tasting at Petaluma/Bridgewater Mill or afternoon tea and a town walk in Hahndorf.  On arrival at the Barossa Novotel Resort, check in to your 'superior suite' with its private balcony overlooking the vineyards and Barossa Ranges. The Barossa Novotel is set in a beautiful rural setting and facilities include a  pool, endota spa, gym and an 18 hole golf course next door.   Relax and unwind and enjoy a fine 2-course meal at Harry's Restaurant tonight.

Day Two

Enjoy a hearty cooked breakfast before John's arrival at 9am to begin your day of wine touring in the beautiful Clare Valley, famous for its Riesling, Cabernet and Muscat.  Winery tastings may include, Grossett, Jim Barry Killakanoon, Mount Horrocks, Sevenhill Cellars, Skillogalee or Tim Adams to name a few.  A sumptuous 2-course lunch with wine is enjoyed at Skillogalee Restaurant and a high tea is at historic Martindale Hall, made famous by the movie 'Picnic at Hanging Rock'.  Return to your guesthouse at 5pm and relax before your transfer to the award winning restaurant '1918' for a fine 2-course dinner.

Day Three

Today, you are off to discover the true jewel in the crown of Australian wine regions, the renowned Barossa Valley.  Enjoy another country-cooked breakfast before John's arrival at 9.30am in a rare and classic 1962 Daimler, previously used in Royal Tours of the sixties.  The Barossa is famous for its Eden Valley Riesling, Viognier, Adult Rose, Sparkling Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro and full-bodied Shiraz as well as world-class fortifieds. You'll have a chance to meet the winemakers, enjoy the culture and history and be entertained by John's commentary and knowledge of this area. John loves to share his close friendships in the wine industry, with all who tour with him.   Enjoy a 2-course lunch with wine at Vintners Restaurant and taste the wares of Maggie Beers Farm Shop for afternoon tea.  John will once again, choose wineries and attractions to suit your tastes.  These may include Henschke, Yalumba, Charles Melton, Charles Cimicky, Turkey Flat, Torbreck or Langmeil, among others.  To finish off this indulgent 3 day wine discovery, take the rare opportunity to taste 100-year-old fortified wine (liquid history) at historic Seppeltsfield before leisurely heading back to your Adelaide guesthouse or the Adelaide Airport.
