 Day One
You'll be greeted by your friendly host,
John Baldwin in a modern Mercedes and enjoy a
picturesque drive to McLaren Vale, famous for its Chenin
Blanc, Grenache, Shiraz and Italian varietals. John
will tailor the day's visits to your particular wine
tastes and preferences. The wineries may include
Coriole, d'Arenberg, Kay Bros, Primo Estate or Samuel
Gorge Vineyards among others. Visits may also include
olive oil, olives, local cheeses and wood aged vinegar
tastings. A 2-course gourmet lunch with wine is enjoyed
at the Victory Hotel restaurant with its beautiful ocean
views. Set off to The Barossa via the beautiful
Adelaide Hills and stop for a cheese platter and wine
tasting at Petaluma/Bridgewater Mill or afternoon tea
and a town walk in Hahndorf. On arrival at the Barossa
Novotel Resort, check in to your 'superior suite' with
its private balcony overlooking the vineyards and
Barossa Ranges. The Barossa Novotel is set in a
beautiful rural setting and facilities include a pool,
endota spa, gym and an 18 hole golf course next door.
Relax and unwind and enjoy a fine 2-course meal at
Harry's Restaurant tonight. Day Two
Enjoy a hearty cooked breakfast before John's arrival at
9am to begin your day of wine touring in the beautiful
Clare Valley, famous for its Riesling, Cabernet and
Muscat. Winery tastings may include, Grossett, Jim
Barry Killakanoon, Mount Horrocks, Sevenhill Cellars,
Skillogalee or Tim Adams to name a few. A sumptuous
2-course lunch with wine is enjoyed at Skillogalee
Restaurant and a high tea is at historic Martindale
Hall, made famous by the movie 'Picnic at Hanging
Rock'. Return to your guesthouse at 5pm and relax
before your transfer to the award winning restaurant
'1918' for a fine 2-course dinner.
Day Three
Today, you are off to
discover the true jewel in the crown of Australian wine
regions, the renowned Barossa Valley. Enjoy another
country-cooked breakfast before John's arrival at 9.30am
in a rare and classic 1962 Daimler, previously used in
Royal Tours of the sixties. The Barossa is famous for
its Eden Valley Riesling, Viognier, Adult Rose,
Sparkling Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro and full-bodied
Shiraz as well as world-class fortifieds. You'll have a
chance to meet the winemakers, enjoy the culture and
history and be entertained by John's commentary and
knowledge of this area. John loves to share his close
friendships in the wine industry, with all who tour with
him. Enjoy a 2-course lunch with wine at Vintners
Restaurant and taste the wares of Maggie Beers Farm Shop
for afternoon tea. John will once again, choose
wineries and attractions to suit your tastes. These may
include Henschke, Yalumba, Charles Melton, Charles
Cimicky, Turkey Flat, Torbreck or Langmeil, among
others. To finish off this indulgent 3 day wine
discovery, take the rare opportunity to taste
100-year-old fortified wine (liquid history) at historic
Seppeltsfield before leisurely heading back to your
Adelaide guesthouse or the Adelaide Airport.
